At Glazier Implants + Periodontics in Richmond, VA, we understand how missing teeth can throw a wrench in your daily life. Dealing with the absence of teeth can be extremely painful and can cause many issues, such as difficulty chewing or speaking, jaw pain, teeth shifting where they shouldn’t, and even a lack of self-confidence.
Living with missing teeth can be a nightmare for your oral health and overall well-being, which is why we are happy to offer a variety of dental implants to help eradicate these issues and leave you with a beautiful smile!
Dental implants are composed of metal posts that serve as replacements for tooth roots and artificial teeth that resemble and function like natural teeth. Each component, consisting of the implant fixture, abutment, and dental prosthetic, plays a vital role in ensuring the strength and longevity of the dental implant. Dental implants can improve speech, chewing function, and the overall appearance of one’s teeth. With the multitude of advantages they provide. Whether choosing full mouth dental implants or single implants, they are the preferred solution for tooth restoration.
Our commitment lies in delivering personalized smile solutions tailored to your specific requirements. For replacing a single missing tooth, individual dental implants offer an effective solution that seamlessly blends with your natural teeth. On the other hand, dental bridges are custom-made prosthetic teeth that can consecutively replace multiple missing teeth, securely anchored by crowns on both sides of the gap.
Implant-supported dentures provide a permanent solution by attaching prosthetic dentures to implant posts securely placed in the jawbone. This eliminates the need for removable dentures. Full mouth dental implants utilize 4-6 implants to replace all teeth, making it the most comprehensive tooth restoration option we provide. Whether you require the replacement of a single tooth or an entire arch of teeth, single dental implants, dental bridges, implant-supported dentures, and full mouth dental implants are all excellent choices to restore your smile.
To determine the best course of action, we will work one-on-one with you to see which dental implant option is most suitable for you. During your initial consultation, we will take intraoral photos and a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan to better understand your teeth and surrounding areas. We will also conduct a comprehensive periodontal evaluation to examine your teeth, gums, bite, plaque, bone structure, and risk factors.
All photos and scans are sent to our dental lab in Washington, DC. Dr. Thomas Glazier then reviews all the data and creates a curated treatment plan. By looking at this data, he can confirm what procedures need to be done and whether other surgeries, such as gum grafting or tooth extractions, may need to be performed. Dr. Glazier will then send this information to you, providing a detailed breakdown of your treatment plan.
Once the treatment plan is set, Dr. Glazier will begin placing the implants. Before the procedure begins, we may use sedation to help ensure your comfort during the procedure. Dr. Glazier will then make small incisions in your gums, place 4-6 implants using guided surgery, and attach the abutment connector. We will have a temporary set of teeth ready to place immediately after the procedure.
For 3-6 months following the procedure, your implants will fuse with your jawbone to create a durable foundation for your smile. Dr. Glazier will see you for your follow-up appointment to confirm the integration and ensure healing. He will then scan the mouth and ensure everything is ready, making adjustments as needed. Once your mouth is completely healed, we will place your hand-crafted final prosthesis. Full mouth dental implants can last a lifetime with proper at-home care and regular Glazier Implants + Periodontics visits!
